The Green Bay Packers will lean heavily on these five players heading into their Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

The Green Bay Packers look to keep their undefeated streak alive as they host the Denver Broncos in Week 3 at Lambeau Field. The Packers finally move outside of their division after taking down the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings in the first two regular season games. For the first time this season, fans are mostly confident about a game against the 0-2 Broncos.

However, Denver shouldn’t be overlooked so easily. Similar to the Bears and Vikings, the Broncos have a very good defense and will provide the Packers’ offense with another stiff test. Don’t be surprised if Green Bay has their third straight less than stellar offensive performance. Fortunately, the defense should be able to come to the rescue against Joe Flacco and company. Denver has struggled to score points in their first two games, putting up fewer than 17 points in each contest.

It will be another interesting early season test for Green Bay who has four of their next five games at home. Before we go any further, let’s take a look at five players who will be in the spotlight on Sunday.

Tremon Smith

If you’re not sure who Tremon Smith is don’t worry too much. The Packers just claimed him off waivers this week. Smith is a speedster that could make an immediate impact on special teams both as a gunner and a returner. He has elite speed and could ultimately push Trevor Davis for his job. It will be interesting to see Smith’s role with the Packers one week into his tenure. However, if he gets on the field for special teams, it could be a sign of things to come for Davis.

Lane Taylor/Elgton Jenkins

This is an interesting matchup to watch. Lane Taylor has now struggled two weeks in a row and Elgton Jenkins appeared to play well in his limited action. Jenkins helped spring Aaron Jones for a touchdown run. The coaches will obviously go deeper into the film, but keep your eye out on both of these guys when they’re on the field.

Aaron Jones

The Packers are committed to the run. Most importantly, they’re committed to Aaron Jones in the run game. A week after getting bottled up against the Bears, he rushed 23 times for 116 yards. Green Bay wants to continue to rely on the run and will feed Jones as long as he’s healthy.

Jaire Alexander

Jaire Alexander loves to talk. Fortunately for him, he can also back it up with his play on the field. However, any time you’re as loud as Alexander, you’re going to get the spotlight on you. It’s likely he’ll match up with Emmanuel Sanders who’s gotten off to a nice start this season by hauling in 16 receptions for 184 yards and two touchdowns. Let’s see who wins this matchup.

Marquez Valdes-Scantling

Davante Adams got back to being his usual elite self on Sunday. However, he’s going to need help from his fellow wide receivers if the double and triple teams continue to come. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has elite speed and should be able to step up to the challenge. Let’s see how he does against a good Broncos’ secondary.
