The Green Bay Packers were fortunate enough to defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Week 2. Here are the immediate reactions to the game.

It was a very emotional game, but the Green Bay Packers did what they set out to do. They took on the Minnesota Vikings in their first home game of the season at Lambeau Field and went home with the victory in Week 2.

The Packers got off to a fast start, as they led 21-0 shortly into the second quarter. It was a dominant performance by Green Bay and the route looked to be on. However, the Vikings proved to have no quit in them, as they battled back. They scored the final 16 points of the game, but it wasn’t enough, as the Packers improved to 2-0. Here are the immediate reactions and highlights.

  • What a start! Four plays, 75 yards and just over two minutes into the game and they got into the end zone.
  • After a missed field goal by the Vikings, Green Bay drives the length of the field again and puts the ball into the end zone for the second straight possession. Aaron Rodgers was 8-for-9 for 119 yards and two touchdowns while hitting five different receivers in his first two possessions
  • The Packers defense immediately comes up big. Kirk Cousins fumbles while scrambling for a first down, but the Vikings recovered. On the very next play, Kenny Clark strip-sacks him and Dean Lowry assures his team comes up with the football.
  • How does the offense respond? By putting the ball into the endzone once again. They went up 21-0 less than a minute into the second quarter. This is fun.
  • Well, that didn’t last long, two plays later Dalvin Cook broke off a huge run on his way to a 75-yard touchdown run. 21-7 Packers. The Packers followed that up with a fumble on their next offensive possession.
  • The Packers were making a move before half, but get stuffed on fourth-and-one. Vikings promptly score to make it 21-14 heading into the locker room. But, wait! The booth overturned a Stefon Diggs touchdown reception because of offensive pass interference. The Packers’ defense rallied and held Minnesota to a field goal. 21-10 is the actual score after two quarters.
  • The Vikings put up the only points in the third quarter on a Diggs’ touchdown. 21-16 heading into the fourth.
  • The Packers’ offense continued to sputter and do absolutely nothing. The defense saved them momentarily via a Kevin King interception in the endzone with 5:10 remaining. The second straight week Green Bay’s defense came up with a huge pick in their opponent’s endzone.
