Inside Linebacker (4)

Blake Martinez, Oren Burks, Ty Summers & James Crawford

Blake Martinez is a lock. He has 286 tackles over the past two years, and he’s the only player on the roster as things currently stand that has started games in the NFL. He’s heading into a contract year, and this could be his final season with the Packers as they’ve typically not put a high value on inside linebackers. One player that isn’t in these four that could make the depth chart may not even be on the roster right now with the number of injuries at the position.

Oren Burks came into the offseason looking to build on a quiet rookie season. After a strong couple of weeks, he suffered a torn pectoral muscle that thankfully wasn’t as bad as initially expected. He’ll be the starter once he returns. Next, we have James Crawford. Crawford was a decent player on special teams last year, and he showed that he can bring some value in certain situations as a rotational guy.

Ty Summers rounds out the group, although, as mentioned previously, another player could be brought in after roster cuts. Summers is a hyper athlete that showed off his athleticism a lot during camp and the pre-draft process. As a special-teamer and backup, he’ll fit where the NFL has been moving towards at the linebacker spot.
