Offensive Line (9)

David Bakhtiari, Lane Taylor, Corey Linsley, Billy Turner, Bryan Bulaga, Elgton Jenkins, Justin McCray, Lucas Patrick & Alex Light

The Jason Spriggs experiment has finally come to an end. Spriggs never became the consistent swing tackle that everyone was hoping for. In his place, we now have Alex Light. Light has been a consistent backup presence during training camp thus far, and, in the event that starters Bryan Bulaga or David Bakhtiari get hurt, you have some faith that Light can step in and play some productive snaps.

On the inside, Corey Linsley and Billy Turner are locked in. Lane Taylor, however, has been locked in a battle for his spot throughout the offseason. Rookie second-round pick Elgton Jenkins has been doing exactly what was expected of him. He plays consistent fundamental football, and he does so every snap. Some have projected Taylor to possibly get cut, but, even as a backup, he’s about as good of a backup lineman as you’ll find across the league.

Justin McCray was terrible last year. He came into the 2018 offseason battling Byron Bell for the starting spot. He won it, and he was then benched two weeks into the year. However, as a backup with starting experience, he makes a lot of sense verse keeping younger guys with no NFL snaps. Lucas Patrick gets the final spot. The swing guard can play all over the interior of the line, and he has earned his spot on the roster.
