Green Bay Packers: 2019 53-Man Roster Prediction
Cornerback (6)
Jaire Alexander, Tony Brown, Kevin King, Josh Jackson, Tramon Williams & Ka’Dar Hollman
Jaire Alexander and Kevin King are the only two locks when you look at this position, although Tramon Williams is a near-lock. Alexander showed flashes of being a legitimate lockdown corner last season, and he’ll be looking to build on that this year. King, if he’s able to stay healthy, will be the starter on the other side. He has the prototypical size that teams are looking for in a modern cornerback. he just has to stay on the field to prove it.
Williams is the veteran of the defensive backfield, and he’s the oldest player on the entire roster. He played a ton last season, and his workload will be much smaller this year barring unforeseen injuries. However, his veteran savvy and leadership will keep him around. Jackson has improved this preseason, but he still has room to grow. Thankfully for him, he will get that opportunity against the lower competition this year as the fourth corner on the depth chart.
Next, we have Tony Brown. The former starter at Alabama miraculously went undrafted and the Packers gladly snapped him up. He’s physical and brings an attitude to the corner position that brings a level of swagger to the group that they feed off of. He’s an excellent depth guy. The final spot belongs to Ka’Dar Hollman. Hollman was a sixth-round pick that flashed ball skills in college. That’s exactly what he’s done this preseason and camp to guarantee a roster spot.
