Green Bay Packers: Roster Predictions After Two Preseason Games
Cornerback (6): Jaire Alexander, Kevin King, Tony Brown, Tramon Williams, Josh Jackson, Ka’dar Hollman (R)
Practice Squad: Chandon Sullivan, Kabion Ento (R)
This is as talented and as deep a cornerback room as this team has seen in almost a decade. The top five guys could all legitimately start in the NFL Week One and Hollman has shown the potential to be a starter down the line.
King looks like he’ll be ready to go against Chicago after missing the past couple weeks, and he should form a lockdown duo with Jaire Alexander. Tony Brown is a guy you love to have on your team and hate to play against. He talks the talk, and he’s backed it up very well so far and his talent is very reminiscent of Sam Shields with his speed and recovery ability.
In the nickel, the old man of the team returns in Tramon Williams. Josh Jackson is back as well from his foot injury and looking for a second-year jump. His ability isn’t in question, just his technique. If he’s your fifth corner with his ball skills, that a great group. And the team appears to have a serious find in Hollman, who’s done nothing but impress in each practice and both games.
Sullivan is just on the outside looking in but is the first call if an injury hits after an impressive camp. While Ento oozes potential as a long, athletic corner after converting from receiver following the draft.
Safety (5): Adrian Amos, Darnell Savage (R), Josh Jones, Raven Greene, Will Redmond
Practice Squad: Natrell Jamerson
Amos, Savage, and Greene can start to look for real estate in Green Bay. They’re safely on the roster as the top three safeties. After that, special teams plays a major role.
Josh Jones has angered a lot of the fanbase after what happened in the offseason (which we really don’t know the full details of) and missed the game against Baltimore with an illness. But he’s still one of the best athletes on the team and can step in at middle linebacker in the nickel and hold his own as a hitter and blitzer.
Redmond is a bit of a surprise, but he’s very versatile (He was a Top 100 pick as a corner three years ago), and has shown the willingness to do everything on special teams. He’s been a very good player in Camp and the preseason. As for Jamerson, his mediocre tackling so far has moved him off the roster, but he can still turn it around and has the ability to play in the NFL at safety.
