Wide receiver

Coming into Training Camp, most of us expected there to be some heated competition for the final few spots at receiver. It’s safe to assume that Davante Adams, Geronimo Allison, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling are safe, while I also feel confident putting Equanimeous St. Brown in that category as well.

Given that it seems likely that the Green Bay Packers will keep just six receivers on the roster this season, with the receivers above considered safe, there are only two spots available for a handful of other options.

As it stands, Jake Kumerow and Trevor Davis have separated themselves from the rest of the pack. Kumerow has shown to be incredibly reliable and has gained the trust of Aaron Rodgers. While Trevor Davis is having what may be his best camp yet and poses a threat as the return man as well.

Then we have J’Mon Moore who based on my mentions, most Packers fans are ready to move on from him. However, he has performed well so far and at just 24 years old along with not even being through his second Training Camp, cutting him would be a difficult decision given his upside.

We also have to mention a few other receivers. First is Darrius Shepherd who has put together a solid camp that includes beating Jarie Alexander in a red zone drill. Shepherd could prove to be a weapon in the slot – which plays an important role in LaFleur’s offense – and gives Green Bay another option at return man.

Meanwhile, the likes of Allen Lazard and Teo Redding have caught the eye of Rodgers both on the field and on film.

Davis missed the final joint practice against Houston with an injury and it is unknown if he will play Thursday night. But regardless, there is still plenty of time for other receivers to show that they deserve a roster spot.
