If the Milwaukee Brewers want to be true contenders this season, they will have to make a big move at the trade deadline, but who do they have to give away?

As the July 31st trade deadline looms, the Milwaukee Brewers find themselves barely over .500, but very much in the race for the division title. Other teams like the Chicago Cubs are almost guaranteed to make a move, so the Brewers will have to counter if they want to stay close.

As with any trade deadline, big names have been thrown around and linked to tons of contending teams. Names like former World Series Most Valuable Player, Madison Bumgarner, All-Stars Marcus Stroman and Will Smith, and even flamethrowing starter, Noah Syndergaard.

With demand for good arms high, especially in the National League where almost every team could be a buyer, the prices to acquire one of these guys could skyrocket. Will Smith, being a reliever will not command something astronomical, but a stud starting pitcher is often worth a plethora of prospects.

Any deal will no doubt include multiple prospects, including lower-level minor league players, but today I’ll be looking at who could be centerpieces of a trade for one of these stars.
