1. Sign Robin Lopez

Robin Lopez was the final, and most controversial, move the Bucks made on Sunday night. The twin brother of Brook Lopez agreed to a two-year deal worth about $10 million. In order to bring him on board, the Bucks had to use their full Room Exception of $4.8 million this season.

R. Lopez doesn’t possess the typical skill set the Bucks look for in a big man. He isn’t an outside shooter by any means, having just attempted 51 threes throughout his NBA career. Fortunately, he does bring other skills like shot-blocking and toughness to the table.

Milwaukee will have to get creative with how they use R. Lopez on offense. Opposing big men don’t have to respect his outside shot at all and will sink into the paint to defend it against attacks. One way to offset this is to allow him to work in the pick-and-roll where he sets some heavy ball screens. This could offset his lack of gravity to some degree and still give his teammates the opportunity to score. There’s certainly a lot to be worked out and this is the most questionable move.
