Grading Milwaukee Bucks free agent moves on Day 1
3. Re-signing George Hill
Bringing back George Hill was always going to be tricky for the Bucks. They certainly appreciated what he brought to the team last year, but he was further down on their totem pole than guys like B. Lopez and Middleton. Fortunately, they were able to make it work.
Hill was originally waived by the Bucks before free agency began in order to save the team $17 million. However, it was always the plan to waive him and bring him back. The two sides eventually agreed to a three-year, $29 million deal. It is reported the third year is only partially guaranteed which is incredibly important considering Hill’s age.
In order to create cap space for this signing, the Bucks will likely have to waive and stretch Jon Leuer. Leuer was acquired via a trade with the Detroit Pistons that saw Milwaukee ship away Tony Snell and the 30th overall pick. Nothing has been announced yet, so we’ll have to wait and see.
