Green Bay Packers: 10 best players in Brett Favre Era
7. Robert Brooks
Favre had the pleasure of playing with some great wide receivers throughout his time with the Packers and Brooks is the first wide receiver we see on our list. Unfortunately, a number of the receivers Favre played with also saw their careers end early due to injuries. And that’s the case with Brooks as well.
Brooks was selected in the third round of the 1992 NFL Draft and played seven seasons in Green Bay. During that time, he proved to be a reliable weapon for Favre and posted two 1000 yard seasons. That doesn’t seem like much, but he was really just getting going before an awful injury altered his entire career.
After posting a monster season in 1995 that included 102 receptions for 1497 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns, Brooks was looking to prove himself as a top receiver in the NFL. Unfortunately, he suffered a severe knee injury in the seventh game of the season and missed the rest of the year. He did return the following year to post his second and final 1000 yard season, but the knee injury changed him forever. He struggled with pain in his back and retired after the 1998 season. He did attempt a brief comeback, but it wasn’t successful.
Brooks’ raw numbers may not match up with some of the other receivers Favre has played with, but his impact was felt during his time there.
