Green Bay Packers: 10 best players in Brett Favre Era
10. Marco Rivera
It’s hard to accurately assess an offensive lineman’s worth, but here we are with guard Marco Rivera kicking us off at number 10. Rivera played eight seasons with Favre and the Packers, making the Pro Bowl in his final three. Most impressively is the fact that he played in 125 out of a possible 128 games throughout his career and didn’t miss a single start between 1999 and 2004.
Even though Rivera was a backup on the offensive line for Green Bay’s Super Bowl winning team in 1997, he still played a major role. He came in during jumbo packages and provided Green Bay with an extra lift when they needed to get tough yards.
After ’97, Rivera became a regular starter. He was a part of some very good Packers’ teams and provided Favre with the protection he needed on the inside. Of course, they had other good offensive linemen such as Frank Winters who deserve a lot of credit as well. Just consider Rivera as the player who honors all the good offensive linemen Favre played with throughout his career.
