Before Brett Favre was acquired by the Green Bay Packers in 1992 the franchise was a wasteland. They had only posted one winning record in the past 13 years and were a complete afterthought in the NFL. Basically, they were 1980’s version of the Cleveland Browns.
Fortunately, Packers’ general manager Ron Wolf struck gold when he traded the 19th overall pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for Favre on Feb 11, 1992. The rest is history as Favre helped lead Green Bay back into Super Bowl contention and only one losing season throughout his Packers’ career.
Even though his time with Green Bay ended on a sour note, enough time has passed for us to look back and objectively recognize Favre’s amazing accomplishments. He’s one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever live and was rewarded with three MVP awards because of it.
