Milwaukee Bucks: Pros and cons of trading for Chris Paul
Pro: Still a great point guard
Father Time defeats every man. And Paul is feeling the heat at 34-years-old. His play has begun to slip and he can no longer carry the heavy load he once was capable of. His point per game dropped to 15.6 last season-the worst in his career. His effective field goal percentage of 50.8 percent was also the fourth-lowest.
However, that doesn’t mean Paul doesn’t still have some left in the tank. His usage percentage slipped all the way to 22.5 with Houston last year due to their preferred offense of allowing James Harden to Iso and play one-on-one basketball. Still, he showed the ability to step up and take over when needed.
If the Bucks were to somehow acquire Paul, he would immediately become the best point guard on the roster. Whether they move Eric Bledsoe to acquire him or not. That’s an upgrade in and of itself. Paul has shown he can defer to a more talented player and that would still be needed in Milwaukee. However, he could also provide them with another scoring option that’s a lot more reliable than the one they have now.
