Christian Yelich

Zach Davies

Josh Hader

And now the moment you’ve all been waiting for. The fun part that we all love where we talk about the best and brightest of this year’s squad. Josh Hader has continued to do Josh Hader things, whipping his hair all around, deceiving opposing hitters and throwing the ball 98 miles per hour right over their bat. He has somehow managed to bump up his strikeouts per nine innings from an unreal 15.8 last season to 18.6 so far in 2019. While he has given up a few more home runs than usual, 2.0 per nine which is the highest of his short career, his versatility and ability to come in the game in any situation and give the team multiple shutdown innings has been extremely valuable with the early season injury of Jeremy Jeffress and the loss of Corey Knebel.

Zach Davies has been the ace this year. He is throwing the ball extremely well out of his 6-foot 155-pound frame. I talked about him in the Biggest Surprise section already so I won’t be too repetitive here, but he has been good enough that he deserves to be mentioned multiple times. He has also held on runners well as the caught stealing rate with him on the mound is 50% and he has picked off one runner.

And now the moment you’ve actually all been waiting for. Christian Yelich: 2018 NL MVP and potential repeat MVP in 2019. He leads the league in home runs with an outrageous 19 and he doesn’t hit cheap ones, with an average distance of 407.2 feet. He is behind only Cody Bellinger and Mike Trout in on-base percentage. His OPS of a ridiculous 1.169 is up from his exactly 1.000 OPS last season. His 39 runs scored and 40 RBI also rank second and fourth in the MLB respectively. He has gone from a good hitter in Miami to a guy on a great tear in August and September in 2018 to now a bonafide superstar in 2019. His Wins Above Replacement of 2.9 ranks him easily first on the team making him the clear-cut Most Valuable Player on the 2019 Milwaukee Brewers so far. He has been more than anyone could have imagined when he was traded for last January and he is set up to be the MVP of this team and of this league for years to come.
