Kahale Warring – San Diego State

Warring is a player that may be a little more raw than a player like Dax Raymond mentioned above, but he has a high upside given his size and athletic talent. Out of this year’s tight end class, he has one of the highest Relative Athletic Scores, which is just the type of player that the Green Bay Packers have drafted over the years.

Although Warring had limited opportunities as a pass catcher in San Diego State’s offense, he is solid as a route runner and could be an impact receiver at all three defensive levels. He’s just too big for a safety to cover and is too quick for most linebackers.

As a pass catcher, he uses his big frame to his advantage and is able to snag the football at the high point with ease. However, something of note is that Warring did have a number of easy drops due to a lack of concentration over his career.

Warring works incredibly hard as a blocker and uses his strength well, but his technique needs some improvement. In pass protection, his attempts were limited, so it is difficult to know where he is at compared to others, but I’m sure it’s safe to assume that some work is needed.

Most likely Warring isn’t going to contribute much on offense during his first year in Green Bay as he still needs time to develop. But with Jimmy Graham, Marcedes Lewis, and a potential early round pick, that shouldn’t be an issue.
