Tight end will likely be a priority for the Green Bay Packers in this year’s draft and these are three potential targets in the mid-rounds.

The tight end position is one that has perplexed the Green Bay Packers since the days of Jermichael Finley. In recent years they have brought in big-name players through free agency, but have struggled to find any sort of consistent production.

Some of the issues can be attributed to former head coach Mike McCarthy’s system, but under Matt LaFleur we can expect tight end usage to increase and for them to play a much bigger role in this Green Bay Packers’ offense.

An ideal tight end in LaFleur’s system will be able to line up all over the formation and will have to hold their own as a blocker in his zone running scheme. We can also expect to see many more designed plays to get the tight end open and they won’t have to be as reliant upon getting open on their own.

We all know about T.J. Hockenson, Noah Fant, and Irv Smith, that the Green Bay Packers could target in round one, but what about later on in the draft?

While many think Green Bay will take one early, we don’t know that for sure and it will largely be dependent upon what their big board looks like and who is available. Even if they do draft a tight end early, taking another in the middle rounds isn’t a bad idea given that none of the current options on the roster are guaranteed to be under contract in 2020.

Regardless of how it shakes out early on in the draft, taking a tight end in the mid-rounds should be on their radar, and these are three potential targets.
