No. 12: T.J. Hockenson, Tight End – Iowa

No. 30: Nasir Adderley, Safety – Delaware

Before the Green Bay Packers’ pickups in free agency, I was not on board with taking a tight end with the 12th pick, however, I have become more open to the idea, depending on who is available at the time. In this scenario, with Devin Bush, Devin White, Brian Burns, and Ed Oliver all off the board already, Hockenson makes a lot of sense.

None of the current tight ends on the Packers roster are under contract in 2020 and the tight end position is going to be used much more effectively under Matt LaFleur than it was under former head coach Mike McCarthy. Hockenson put together a terrific combine and will give the Green Bay Packers an all-around player that can both block and be very effective in the passing game.

At 30, the Green Bay Packers get perhaps the best safety in the draft. Adderley has very good size, is very athletic, and would pair quite well with Adrian Amos. As a former cornerback, he will give defensive coordinator Mike Pettine versatility by being able to play single high, in the box and even in the slot.

With his range and ball skills, Adderley puts himself in position to make plays as referenced by his 31 pass breakups and 10 interceptions at Delaware. Adding Adderley would give the Packers the playmaker that they have been lacking on the backend of their secondary.
