Round 1, Pick 12:

FanSpeak: DL Ed Oliver, Houston

The Draft Network: EDGE Brian Burns, Florida State

In either scenario, this is the best case scenario for the Packers. Ed Oliver was seen as a potential contender for the top overall pick before the season and is compared to Geno Atkins with his play. That is not a bad ceiling to have. The Packers do have Kenny Clark and Mike Daniels on the line and are rumored to be pursuing a return for Muhammad Wilkerson. Throw in Dean Lowry and Montravius Adams and they have a talented pass rushing group up front. Adding a talent like Oliver who can learn from a similarly “undersized” defensive lineman like Daniels would be a dream.

On the other side, Brian Burns is another pass rusher that can and likely should be added to a team that just signed two to large contracts. The two new Smiths are very good players and will make a sizeable impact in Green Bay, but both are built more in the Nick Perry mode (the best version of Perry), then Von Miller. Getting a pass rusher who can turn the corner jet upfield would be a great complement to those guys, and no one in the Draft is better at that then Burns. His agility and burst is jaw-dropping. A foursome of Z. Smith, P. Smith, Burns, and Fackrell is a fearsome group.
