Round 7, Pick 226:

Fanspeak: OT Chuma Edoga, USC

The Draft Network: EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel, Wisconsin

With their final pick in Round Seven, the Packers get good athletes from big programs who are hard to get a gauge on. With Edoga, you have an athletic tackle with plenty of experience for a premier program, much like Kyle Murphy was. His biggest question is his inconsistent technique and size. He’s listed at 295, which is awfully small for the modern NFL to be a starting caliber tackle. If he can be a swing tackle, he could have a long career.

On the Draft Network, the Packers keep another Badger linebacker in the state in Van Ginkel. After a senior season in which he struggled with a high ankle sprain, Van Ginkel needed a big Combine and Pro Day to re-invigorate his stock, and he did just that. With a 38″ vertical and 6.89 3-cone time at the Combine, he showed that he’s one of the more athletic linebacker prospects in the Draft. He was even better at Pro Day, running a 4.56 in the forty, at 6’3″ and 241 pounds. His athleticism alone is worth a seventh-round pick, and he could see a similar rise like Leon Jacobs did last year.

Now, the Draft is still over a month away, but it’s a good time now to start looking at some of the prospects and who is available. Hopefully, this can be a good starting point. We’ll have more scouting profiles in the coming weeks, so stay tuned here at Dairyland Express.
