2. Edge Rusher

What?! The edge rusher position isn’t number one? Nope, it’s not. However, they do need to upgrade that spot, and this free agent class has some players that can accomplish that goal. They need players that can get after the quarterback on a regular basis. They need a player that opposing teams have to gameplan to stop on an every-down basis.

A lot of the top guys have already been franchise tagged, but there are some cheaper options like Preston Smith, Dante Fowler Jr. and Shaquille Barrett that they could look to go after. Right now, their only player on the roster that has shown any semblance of pass rushing talent is Kyler Fackrell and Nick Perry, and neither of them has shown that talent in more than one season. They need to give some more help to those two to bolster their rotation.

They’ll likely add a player in the draft also, but they can’t ignore the opportunity this opportunity to add an impact player in this free agent group. The Packers have always liked to build from the inside out. The trenches are where games are won, and the Packers believe in that philosophy. If they exit free agency without adding an edge rusher, it will have been a failure in free agency.
