3. Safety

The team hasn’t had consistent safety play for a while, and this is the free agent class to fix that. There are a number of players in free agency that could be added that could start from day one. They have been rumored to be one of the top targets for Landon Collins, but they also could be more focused on free safeties because they already have an in the box safety in the form of the aforementioned Jones.

Some of the free safeties available to them are some of the best in the NFL, in the form of LaMarcus Joyner, Earl Thomas and Tyrann Mathieu. All three of them would instantly become some of the best players on the team’s improving defense. However, the team had the opportunity to add a safety last offseason, but they chose not to. Ultimately, it bit them as the players they trotted out were consistently beat on a weekly basis.

They would be foolish to not be aggressive in pursuing just one starting safety with how deep this class is, but they’re also not going to spend a significant amount of money on a position that they don’t place a high value on. If they don’t find the right deal out there for them, they are not afraid to let it go until the draft or next offseason.
