Green Bay Packers: 3 free agent wide receivers to target
By Paul Bretl
Adam Humphries
From being an undrafted rookie out of Clemson to becoming a starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and one of the better slot receivers in the league, Adam Humphries has come a long way in his four-year NFL career.
Similar to Golden Tate, Humphries does very well in open space and creating yards after the catch. In 2018, he averaged 5.7 yards after the catch and is another great option to fill the Green Bay Packers need for a dependable slot receiver.
Even with all of the ups and downs in Tampa Bay last season, Humphries was the constant and put together the best season of his career hauling in 76 receptions for 816 yards and five touchdowns.
Humphries would provide the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers with a very reliable option and someone who they can trust to give the ball to in big situations. On the season, Humphries caught nearly 74 percent of the passes thrown his way and according to Pro Football Focus, of 103 catch opportunities, he was credited with only three drops.
Unfortunately for the Packers and Randall Cobb he was never able to live up to his big contract, but at his best in 2014, he put on quite a show. That season Cobb caught 91 passes for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns. Humphries compared to Cobb has very similar measurables athletically and has shown how dynamic he can be out of the slot, if added to this Packers team there is the potential for some highly productive seasons.
Entering the prime of his career and poised for an even bigger season in 2019, Humphries will command a long-term deal on the open market. As of now Spotrac projects, he will land a contract somewhere around four years, $41.8 million. However, given where he is at in his career and the potential he has in this Green Bay Packers offense, he would be worth every penny.
