7. Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan

The Packers defensive line is as solid as it comes. They have two studs in Mike Daniels and Kenny Clark and enough depth behind them to put pressure on offensive lines. Muhammad Wilkerson also has the ability to return to his form as an impact player despite missing most of last season with an injury. Wilkerson is a free agent, but the Packers could look to bring him back on another one-year deal.

Gary could play multiple positions along the line for Green Bay and it would give them an elite trio next to  Daniels and  Clark. Clark and Daniels have been two of the most disruptive forces the Packers have had over the past few seasons. The extra attention they draw from offensive lines could allow Gary to succeed in a one on one situation.

6. Ed Oliver, DL, Houston

The two players on this slide are a case of talent over need. All teams try to balance both talent and need when deciding who to draft, but at some point, talent trumps need. That’s the case for both Gary and Oliver.

Oliver was in the conversation for the top overall pick in this year’s draft at the beginning of the college football season. Even though he slipped a little bit, there’s no reason to be worried. Oliver is built in the same mold as Daniels in that he lacks size (only 6-foot-1), but plays with great power and leverage. He has all the tools to turn into the next big thing and dominate both the pass and the run.
