The Green Bay Packers should be able to get an immediate contributor with their first pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. Here are their top 12 prospects.

The Green Bay Packers hold the 12th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. Therefore, it only makes sense if we rank the top 12 players the Packers would love to draft. This list, in descending order, are the top players I’d select if I were the general manager in Green Bay.

Most of them fill a need for Green Bay, but some of them just have talent that is too good to pass up if they fall to No. 12. This board is very fluid, as there is still information that needs to be collected on each individual. The NFL combine, set to take place on March 1st, will give teams an in-depth look at how players test in certain physical categories. However, here’s what the big board looks like heading into that event next weekend.

12. Deionte Thompson, S, Alabama

Thompson could be the ball-hawking safety the Packers need in their secondary. He has the ability to make up ground in a hurry and cover a lot of field once the ball is in the air. Unfortunately, he’s also a bit undisciplined and likes to take unnecessary chances. This can either lead to big plays for his defense or the offense.

Thompson would be a great pick at No. 12 for Green Bay, as he’s the perfect fit of need and talent. It’s a 50/50 chance whether he’s there or not, but the Packers should absolutely consider him if he is. He could wind up being a Pro Bowl safety for the Packers someday.
