1. Championship contender

The biggest factor in the Bucks keeping Antetokounmpo has always been about winning. Can Milwaukee build a good enough team around him in order to entice him to stay? It’s the main reason Davis wants out of New Orleans-they were never able to build a consistent winner around him.

That has all changed this season under Mike Budenholzer. Milwaukee is suddenly a powerhouse in the NBA and it’s no fluke. The Bucks have the best record in the league at the All-Star break at 43-14. They are locked in a tight battle with the Toronto Raptors for first place in the Eastern Conference, but have a comfortable lead over the three seed. Worst case scenario sees Milwaukee hosting a first round playoff series for the first time since 2001.

The Bucks addition of Nikola Mirotic also adds some pop to their game. He’s a perfect fit on a roster that was already perfectly constructed around Antetokounmpo. Even if the Bucks don’t have top-end talent around the Greek Freak, they do have pieces that fit tremendously with one another.

All of this regular season success is great, but it won’t mean a thing if Milwaukee bows out in the semi-finals. Antetokounmpo wants to win and this is a great chance for the Bucks to prove he can do that in Milwaukee. If the Bucks make a deep playoff run this season, it will highly increase the chance he stays for another contract.
