3. Commitment to the community

Antetokounmpo isn’t from a big city. He generally lacks connections to most places in the United States outside of basketball purposes. However, the one city in the U.S. that he is connected to is Milwaukee.

Antetokounmpo is a family man and his family are in Milwaukee. His mom and younger brother are here and this is where he’s established his roots. His girlfriend is also from Milwaukee. This ties Antetokounmpo down and not in a bad way. In the recent documentary “Finding Giannis” it was revealed that if Antetokounmpo’s family was denied a Visa for a third time that he was going to leave Milwaukee to go back to Greece. So how is he suddenly going to leave his family or uproot them to take off for another city?

Antetokounmpo’s commitment to the Milwaukee community is one of his deepest ties to the team. The new arena was literally built because of him and he’s the face of the franchise. Probably even the face of all Wisconsin sports right now. Antetokounmpo understands this commitment better than anyone and wants to continue to build his team and town.
