Orlando Arcia

The man who is due for a breakout season is shortstop Orlando Arcia. Arcia had a solid first full season in 2017 batting .277 with 15 home runs, but then had an up and down year in 2018. Arcia is looking to come back and build upon the momentum that he established during the Milwaukee Brewers playoff run.

Arcia had a troublesome year at the plate, but ended up making a huge impact when it mattered the most. After batting .197 with only two home runs during the first half of the season, he was sent to Triple A-Colorado Springs to fix his swing.

He was able to come back with a slightly more patient approach, along with a more square stance and a “linear” leg kick, rather than the “swinging” leg kick he had at the start of the season. As a result, during his comeback, Arcia batted .290 in the second half and came up clutch in September and October. From hitting home runs in the postseason, to going four for four in game 163, Arcia made sure fans didn’t forget about him.

Now going into 2019, he’s looking to keep that hot streak going. If Arcia keeps the same swing he had and becomes a little more patient at the plate, he could be a huge factor in that lineup. Arcia has the ability to make the offense a little more dangerous at the bottom of the order. He is a young kid with a lot of potential and this may be the year that we could finally see what he can do at the plate and in the field.

Hopefully, we can see all three of these players have some big seasons, exceed our expectations and help the Crew play more games in October.
