Milwaukee Brewers: 3 players that are in store for big seasons
By Sam Brahm
Ryan Braun
Ryan Braun is coming into the 2019 season hot and could be due for a big year. He has been in a decline these past few seasons due to injuries and his age, but in 2018 he showed some life. This may be the year that he takes a step into the past and gains some power back.
The big news this offseason in regards to Ryan Braun was that he is making adjustments to his swing for the first time in his career. The purpose of these adjustments are to move him into the “launch angle revolution”, and why not? A few tweaks here and there can make a big impact. Braun had career numbers last year and is looking to improve on that. In 2018, Braun had his highest hard contact percentage of his career at 43 percent along with the highest line drive percentage of his career at 23.1 percent, according to Fangraphs.
Braun will never go back to his MVP self, but if he can hit 30 home runs while batting .280, he will exceed lots of fans’ expectations. Even with Braun going into his age 35 season, he is still looking for ways to improve and show that he is still capable of hitting at a high level. Or at least a level that is at least a little close to where he was when he was younger.
More home runs are always nice and if Braun’s critiques can help him hit more balls out and still hit the ball as hard as he did or even harder than he did in 2018, we could see a great season out of him.
