No. 12, T.J. Hockenson – Tight End, Iowa
Recently, T.J. Hockenson has been receiving a lot of attention and has been making his way up many big boards. While he has been linked to the Green Bay Packers at the end of the first round, The Draft Network’s Joe Marino believes that if they have the opportunity to take Hockenson at 12, they must do it.
Hockenson is easily the best all-around tight end in the draft and truly is one of the most talented players overall. His ability as a route runner, pass catcher and blocker make him a perfect fit for Matt LaFleur’s offense that will often times use two tight end sets and allow Hockenson’s versatility to be maximized.
In 13 games last season, Hockenson finished with 49 receptions, averaging 15.5 yards per catch and six touchdowns. According to Pro Football Focus, Hockenson finished top ten in overall grade, receiving grade, and yards per route run amongst tight ends.
No. 30, Jachai Polite – Edge Rusher, Florida
Once again, the Green Bay Packers are linked to edge rusher Jachai Polite. However this time it is at the bottom of the first round. Based on most other mock drafts, Polite doesn’t end up falling this far, but Marino thinks it’s a possibility and if he does, he will be a great value pick at 30th overall.
