Green Bay Packers: Re-grading their 2018 NFL Draft Class
Josh Jackson (Round 2, 45th overall): C-
This grade hurts me. I really want to be a fan of Jackson and would love it if he would succeed in the NFL. However, he had a fairly rough year at cornerback during his rookie season. Many fans were estatic to see the Packers get Jackson. He was projected to go at the end of the first round, but fell all the way to the middle of the second.
Unfortunately, the concerns were warranted. Jackson proved his testing speed (or lack thereof) was legit and he struggled to stay with guys at the NFL level. He was often seen just a step or two behind. However, he did flash some very nice ball skills in the preseason so the hope is high.
A positional change might be in the works, as safety might be the best place for him. It should maximize his ball-hawking abilities and minimize his lack of speed. The Packers also happen to have a huge hole at the backend of their secondary. It’s a win-win situation.
