The Green Bay Packers had an above-average draft last season. Let’s take a look back and grade their 2018 draft class.

As we prepare for the Green Bay Packers 2019 offseason, it’s time to take a look back at their previous draft classes. We begin by looking at just one year ago and re-grading Brian Gutekunst’s first draft as the general manager. It is a bit premature to grade after just one season as a lot can and will change. However, we’ll do our best based on one season of play.

The Packers ended up making 11 selections last year (one more than they currently have). That came after a fair amount of maneuvering from Gutekunst at all levels of the draft. Here is a list of everyone Green Bay selected in 2018:

  • Round 1, pick 18 (18th overall) (via Seattle): Jaire Alexander, CB,Louisville
  • Round 2, pick 12 (45th overall): Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa
  • Round 3, pick 24 (88th overall): Oren Burks, ILB, Vanderbilt
  • Round 4, pick 33(133 overall): J’Mon Moore, WR, Missouri
  • Round 5, pick 1 (138 overall): Cole Madison, G, Washington State
  • Round 5, pick 35 (172 overall) JK Scott, P, Alabama
  • Round 5 pick 37 (174 overall): Marquez Valdes-Scantling, WR, South Florida
  • Round 6, pick 33 (207 overall) Equanimeous St. Brown, WR, Notre Dame
  • Round 7, pick 14 (232 overall): James Looney, DE, California
  • Round 7, pick 21 (239 overall): Hunter Bradley, Ls, Mississippi State
  • Round 7 pick 30 (248 overall) (via Seattle): Kendall Donnerson, Edge, Southeast Missouri State

Overall, the draft class was fairly productive for the Packers during their rookie seasons. There were the inevitable busts and players who didn’t live up to the hype (or even make it to Training Camp), but that happens with every draft class. Ultimately, there’s the potential for this class to have an impact in all three phases of the game.

I’ll break down each round to make it easier for you and grade the individual selections. Without further ado, let’s begin with the seventh round and work our way up.
