After a disappointing 2016 season, the Chicago Bears weren’t sure in what they had with Adrian Amos, but they stuck with him and it has paid off the last two seasons.

The 2017 season was Amos’ coming out party and he carried that momentum over into 2018 where he made 73 total tackles, nine pass deflections, two interceptions and was rated as the eighth-best safety in all of football by Pro Football Focus.

Amos’ range allows him to play deep, as well as cover tight ends and the slot receiver on shorter routes. In 2018, he led all safeties in coverage snaps and can also hold his own against the run. Once again the Green Bay Packers would be adding a sure tackler to the secondary which is a must before next season begins.

Considering Amos recent success, it could be difficult for the Bears to re-sign him. Amos just finished the last year of his rookie deal and after being rated as an elite safety, he will want to be paid like one.

The Bears have been able to lock up many of their stars on defense for the upcoming years, but it has left Amos on the outside looking in.

If Chicago did decide to re-sign Amos, it could take away some of their payroll flexibility, so they might be willing to let him test free agency.

Adrian Amos is a highly athletic player, who measured very well at the combine, which is the exact type of player that General Manager Brian Gutekunst has been adding to the roster over the past year.
