Milwaukee Brewers: Miller Park Will Be No More In 2021

The home of the Milwaukee Brewers will no longer be called Miller Park. After the 2020 season, the naming rights will go to American Family Insurance.
Since the Opening of the new Milwaukee Brewers stadium in 2001, it has been called Miller Park. But in 2021, a new company will have the naming rights for the home of the Brewers.
It was announced on Tuesday that American Family Insurance will get the naming rights for the next fifteen years for an unknown price. Even if it’s just a name, this is a huge change for the Milwaukee Brewers organization. This shocked not only Brewers fans, but also the baseball world. Miller Park is known as the home of the Brewers and having the name being something along the lines of “AmFam Stadium” is going to be a giant adjustment that not many fans are willing to do.

After the announcement, Brewers fans decided to go to social media to talk about how they felt when it came to American Family Insurance. Some Brewers fans didn’t mind the name change. A lot of other fans showed anger when they heard the news. And some of the Brewers faithful went to the extent of creating a petition to keep the name as Miller Park. In other words, not a lot of fans are happy with the recent news.

Also, I am never calling it anything but Miller Park. I know naming rights are a thing and that the big breweries are struggling, but banks and insurance companies sponsoring everything is terrible. I like beer, and hate dealing with insurance companies.

Pros
Yes, there is a good side to this. When it comes to the Brewers, this isn’t just a baseball team, but it’s also a business. With American Family Insurance earning the naming rights, the amount of money the team will get is most likely going to be a lot higher compared to how much they got from MillerCoors (20-Years for $45M). And with the amount of money, which is unknown, that the Brewers are getting from American Family, this helps with the payroll.
As a small market team, it’s always nice to get more money and this is one of the big reasons that teams are good in baseball. Because of the money. As sad as it is that it will no longer be Miller Park, this helps both the business side and it also could make a huge impact when it comes to the team’s success.
Cons
Miller Park not only represents the Milwaukee Brewers, but it represents Milwaukee and the state of Wisconsin. The fact that the name is connected with the state’s love of beer is something that’s very special. A name may not sound like a big deal, but that sound of “let’s go to Miller Park” always had a great ring to it and it’s going to be very difficult for fans to make that change. And from what people are saying, I don’t think that fans are going to make that change. It’s going to always be Miller Park for a lot of fans.

A name change may not sound like a big deal, but it has ruined the days of many Brewers fans. No matter what the name, is once you enter the stadium, you can call it whatever you want. You can call it Miller Park, AmFam Stadium, maybe even County Stadium. It’s unfortunate that you won’t see a huge Miller Park sign on top of the scoreboard or outside the stadium starting in year 2021, but there is one thing to remember: It doesn’t matter what the name of the stadium is. It matters what happens inside the stadium.
