Milwaukee Bucks: 5 goals for 2019
5. Have three players elected to the All-Star game
Typically, the best teams in the NBA get rewarded when it comes to All-Star selection time. A prime example is the 2014-15 Atlanta Hawks. That Hawks team was well on its way to a 60-win season under Budenholzer and had four players (Al Horford, Paul Millsap, Jeff Teague and Kyle Korver) elected to the squad. Although Teague and Korver were likely undeserving, the team success propelled them into the game.
The same could happen with the Bucks this season. Antetokounmpo is the only lock, as he’s leading the Eastern Conference in votes. However, both Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe have compelling cases, but are probably on the outside looking in as of now. Unless one of them gets hot before the break, it will be a toss-up whether they make it or not.
After Middleton and Bledsoe, Brook Lopez is the only other Bucks’ player with even a sliver of a chance at making the game. However, it would likely be a travesty if someone like Lopez slipped into the game. Regardless, the Bucks should aim for having three of their players make the Eastern Conference squad. There’s a long precedent set for the best team in the East.
