3. Jamaal Williams vs Jarrad Davis

Since the injury of Aaron Jones, Jamaal Williams has received nearly all of the carries for the Packers, and he has answered the bell. While the Lions defense has been much better against the run since adding Damon Harrison, the main battle to watch regarding Williams is he vs Davis in pass-protection. The Packers offensive line has been far from perfect, especially due to all of the numerous injuries, which places so much more pressure on the shoulders of Williams.

Davis ranks third on the Lions this season in sacks with five. He plays a role similar to Blake Martinez of the Packers when it comes to rushing the passer. He blitzes well, and his athleticism makes him tough to pick up for any running back. Williams has taken a step back from his elite pass-protection last season, but he is still much better than a lot of the backs that Davis has taken on this season.

Rodgers has been banged up since Week 1. We have seen multiple instances this season where those injuries have hampered his ability to be effective. He has gotten healthier as the season has gone on, and the ability of Williams to keep him upright is a major key to that. If Davis is able to consistently get to Rodgers, even if it just generates hits rather than sacks, those are things you don’t want to see happening on Sunday afternoon.
