The Green Bay Packers take on the New York Jets on Sunday afternoon. There isn’t much to play for, but they are still playing to win.

The Green Bay Packers playoff hopes ended with their loss to the Chicago Bears on Sunday afternoon. All week long, questions have floated about in regards to whether Aaron Rodgers or the other starters will be playing this weekend. As of Wednesday, Rodgers was adamant that he was starting, despite interim coach Joe Philbin being noncommital about Rodgers’ status for Sunday afternoon.

Regardless of whether Rodgers plays, the plan for the next two weeks needs to be to play the young players and let them develop. They also need to figure out which of their upcoming free agents are worth pursuing and which are worth letting hit the market. The offseason doesn’t officially start until after Week 17 for the Packers, but they have already stated they are searching for their next head coach which implies they started early.

The Jets have struggled this year, and they will be looking to build some positive momentum behind rookie quarterback Sam Darnold heading into the offseason and 2019. They have shown flashes of excitement this year, but they have been largely inconsistent over the last couple of months. Both of these teams are playing for draft position, so it will be interesting to see who is able to tank better come Sunday afternoon.
