The Green Bay Packers have a must-win game at the Chicago Bears on Sunday. Will they be able to walk away from Soldiers field with the victory?
The Green Bay Packers have an outside chance of getting into the playoffs. They need a plethora of teams including the Philadelphia Eagles, Carolina Panthers, Washington Redskins and Minnesota Vikings to lose. However, most importantly, the Packers need to win out to give themselves the best chance.
The last two games of the regular season are against the New York Jets and Detroit Lions. Both of those games are very winnable for Green Bay. However, they must first travel to Chicago to take on the suddenly dangerous Bears. This is where it gets difficult for the Packers.
The Bears defeated the Los Angeles Rams last week and their defense is clicking on all cylinders. Their pass rush is set up perfectly to take advantage of an injury-depleted offensive line so the Packers must be ready to counter.
In the first meeting, Khalil Mack wreaked havoc on the Packers and single-handily turned the game in Chicago’s favor. The Packers must make sure he doesn’t do that again and will likely double-team him every opportunity they get.
Defensively, the Packers need to step up and make some game-changing plays. If the defense can force a couple of turnovers and give Green Bay a short field to work with, it will do wonders for the team. A game-changing play like last weeks pick-six by Bashaud Breeland would be huge against the Bears.
All in all, Green Bay has a lot on their plate in Week 16. While it will be tempting to be scoreboard watching across the NFL, they must maintain their focus on the field. And that’s exactly what they’ll do. In the past, the Packers appear to play their best with their backs against the wall. Aaron Rodgers will have a great performance and the defense will do enough to keep the team in the game. I fully expect a last minute drive by Rodgers and the offense to complete a come from behind victory and keep the Packers’ slim playoff hopes alive.
