Milwaukee Bucks: Crazy trade proposal for Anthony Davis
Here’s a crazy offer the Milwaukee Bucks could make to the New Orleans Pelicans in order to obtain All-Star forward Anthony Davis.
Similar to the Milwaukee Bucks and Giannis Antetokounmpo, many analysts are projecting the day when All-Star forward Anthony Davis leaves the New Orleans Pelicans. Whether or not it actually happens remains to be seen, but that doesn’t stop people from speculating.
That’s why we wanted to join the fun and see what a potential Davis to the Bucks trade could look like.
In order to make it happen, we have to review the two essentials to every trade. Most importantly, each team must get something in return that they like. It can’t just be a garbage dump on one team in order to receive a valuable asset. Secondly, the salaries must match. And for that, we have ESPN’s trade machine.
In this scenario, the Bucks send Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton, Thon Maker and a future unprotected first round pick to the Pelicans in exchange for Davis and Darius Miller.
In return for getting rid of their stud, the Pelicans receive two players that have bright futures ahead of them, but are also expiring contracts. Bledsoe is in the final year of his contract and will likely command a similar $15 million to what he’s making this season. Middleton has a player option for $13 million in 2019-2020, but will likely decline it and get something close to a max contract.
Between Middleton and Bledsoe, the Pelicans will be getting a pair of guards who can do a little bit of everything. Middleton is one of the most underrated wings in the NBA and is the perfect compliment to almost every player. Bledsoe is an enigma that will make equally spectacular and frustrating plays throughout the course of a game.
The Bucks also attach Maker and a future unprotected first round pick in the deal. Since the Bucks still owe the Phoenix Suns a first that likely won’t convey until 2020, the earliest New Orleans would acquire the pick is 2022. That’s a perfect time for them, as both Davis and Giannis Antetokounmpo’s contracts would have expired by then and there’s a chance the Bucks could be in a full rebuild mode that season.
The Bucks get Davis along with Darius Miller. Davis is the true prize and will give Milwaukee two legit superstars. Miller helps replenish some of the depth the Bucks lose with Middleton and provide Mike Budenholzer with another option on the wing.
Overall, the trade may be a little light on the Pelicans side, but that’s true for almost any team trading away a superstar. This trade actually happening is very skeptical, but it’s still fun to play around and see what the Bucks could offer the Pelicans in this situation.
