Green Bay Packers’ veteran receiver Randall Cobb expects to contribute to a big day from Aaron Rodgers.

Randall Cobb has not been on the field to experience the Green Bay Packers‘ struggles on offense over the last month or so. Trying to get over a hamstring injury, Cobb has missed six of the last eight games thus putting a strain on the younger receivers to produce. He admitted to reporters on Thursday he may have returned too soon from his injury when suited up to play against the Los Angeles Rams and New England Patriots in weeks eight and nine- prolonging his recovery. Now though, the eight-year veteran believes he will play this week against the Arizona Cardinals stating he feels better than he has in a long time. Cobb also expects for his quarterback to have a big day in wake of the media buzz surrounding the Packers dull offensive strategy and Aaron Rodgers’ sup-MVP level of play.

Rodgers and the offense haven’t lived up to expectations this season and Cobb is well aware of all the criticism they’ve received. However, Cobb has been around long enough to know what to expect when Rodgers plays with an added chip on his shoulder.

“I’m excited to get back out there because I know with all the noise that’s been said over the past week about him, he’s getting ready to light everybody up this week,” Cobb said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and I look forward to helping him out.”

Green Bay will face a vulnerable Arizona defense as they try to gain traction before it’s too late. The Cardinals will travel to Lambeau Field where the Packers have yet to lose a game in 2018. They currently have the fourth-ranked passing defense in the NFL but are 30th against the run.

In order for Cobb and Rodgers to have a big day, it will likely require a strong output from running back Aaron Jones.

Though he sounds like he’s close to 100 percent, Green Bay’s medical staff may intend to keep Cobb on a limited snap count to prevent aggravating his hamstring. However, even in small doses, he should help with the Packers inability to hurt opposing defenses over the middle of the field.

It goes without saying that Cobb has a unique presence within the offense as the longest-tenured receiver. Especially during scramble drills, he is well aware of Rodgers’ tendencies outside the pocket and knows how to get open. Green Bay has struggled to produce big gains from broken where in the past it was something they were known for.

Back in week one, Cobb’s 75-yard game-winning touchdown came off a broken play that required an injured Rodgers to step up in the pocket and find Cobb over the middle.

Perhaps all he needs is another veteran receiver in the mix to get the offense back on track.
