2. Jim Leonhard

Wisconsin has done a tremendous job of finding excellent coordinators through the years. The issue has been keeping them. Whether it’s Dave Aranda, Chris Ash or whoever, the Badgers appear to be a training grounds for the rest of the NCAA.

Jim Leonhard is probably next. In only his second season as the defensive coordinator, he’s already high on a lot of teams’ lists. He will likely draw significant interest from an SEC team this offseason and command a much higher salary than Wisconsin can afford to pay him.

That’s why we should all take a moment to appreciate Leonhard’s greatness. He was a standout player back in his day and is proving to be an even better coach. Leonhard’s defense has gotten better and better each week despite fending off injuries and inexperience. Leonhard will be a great head coach someday.
