5. The Axe

The Axe was a trophy that was started in 1948 with the winner of the Badger-Minnesota Golden Gophers game taking it home for a whole year. Wisconsin has practically owned it over the past decade and a half after winning the last 14 matchups. On Sunday, they’ll look to make it 15.

However, as we’ve seen this season, anything can happen with this Badgers team. At the beginning of the year, it looked as if this game was a lock for Wisconsin, but that’s not necessarily the case anymore. Alex Hornibrook has missed the last few games due to a concussion and Jack Coan has been downright awful in his absence. If the Gophers can load up on the run, they may be able to steal this game at Camp Randall Stadium.

Before they even have a chance of that happening, let’s take a moment to reflect on how great it’s been to own this rivalry with Minnesota. The Badgers have completely dominated this series in recent history, but that won’t always be the case.
