1. Bryce Harper

Bryce Harper just barely beats out Machado as the top free agent on the market this Winter. Allegedly, Harper turned down a 10-year, $300 million contract offer by the Washington Nationals so you know that won’t get it done.

The 2015 NL MVP has been one of the best hitters in baseball since he arrived as a 19-year-old. Even if he hasn’t quite hit the ceiling of his potential, he has still been far from a disappointment. Similar to Machado, Harper is entering free agency in his prime.

Given the rejected offer from the Nationals, $30 million a year is a starting point for Harper. That takes out about 90 percent of MLB teams, especially including the Brewers. Milwaukee will certainly turn their attention elsewhere in order to make it to the World Series next season.
