Milwaukee Brewers: 5 insane free agents they have no chance at
2. Manny Machado
It would be extremely interesting to see how the fans react if the Brewers actually signed Manny Machado. Machado was public enemy No. 1 in the NLCS and for good reason. He intentionally stepped on Jesus Aguilar’s foot in one game and proceeded to crop shop his way around the bases in others.
Regardless, Machado is a huge talent and entering free agency in his prime-a rare feat in baseball. Machado is a controversial player nonetheless but is way more talented than he is controversial. He can play either shortstop or third base and excel at either one.
At 26-years-old, Machado could likely sign his last contract with the MLB this winter, as teams could be looking to lock him up for 10+ years. No matter the money, that amount of years should take the small market Brewers out of any conversation. The Brewers can’t afford for something to go wrong with Machado and have their payroll be tied up for the next decade.
