5. Craig Kimbrel

Beside the fact the Brewers already have a plethora of options for their closing pitcher next season in Jeremy Jeffress, Josh Hader and Corey Knebel, Craig Kimbrel is off the table due to the money he’s set to make in 2019.

Kimbrel made $13 million in each of the last two seasons for the Boston Red Sox and is likely to see a raise next season. He’s made the All-Star team in seven of the past eight seasons and is looking to cash in one last time at 30-years-old.

In 2018, he recorded 42 saves and a 2.74 ERA for the Red Sox. That could have even been seen as a down season for the stud, as he recorded a 1.43 ERA the previous season in Boston. Because of his success, Kimbrel could be looking at a three to five year deal for anywhere around $15-18 million per season, safely putting him out of range for the Brewers.
