4. Clay Matthews

Clay Matthews is another veteran who is in the last year of his contract and likely the last year with the Packers. Matthews, who was once a dominant pass-rushing force at outside linebacker, has all but lost the speed that made him so great. Even though his high motor is still there, Matthews just can’t get the job done like he used to.

Going into Sunday’s game against the Dolphins, Matthews only has 2.5 sacks and seven quarterback hits on the season. If those numbers are doubled over the next eight games, it would tie Matthews lowest sack total of his career.

Matthews isn’t the first, nor last, outside linebacker on this list. Unfortunately, Green Bay has gotten very little from a position they’ve invested heavily in and one that has a big impact on the game. Matthews could still be a useful player, but only has a gently-used rotational piece.
