2. Jed Lowrie

With Moustakas on the market, the Brewers could potentially pursue Lowrie as a replacement in the lineup. In this scenario, Shaw would move to third and Lowrie would be able to play his natural position of second base. However, the Brewers wouldn’t want to bring back Schoop if they chose to pay Lowrie.

Lowrie is a switch-hitting second baseman who’s been one of the best in the league. Over the past two years, the only second basemen to have a higher WAR than Lowrie have been Jose Ramirez and Jose Altuve. Even at 34-years-old, Lowrie could provide the Brewers with the extra bat they need.

Now, it all comes down to money. Lowrie made $6million with the Oakland Athletics last season and will be looking for one last payday. Given the success he’s had, he could command around $10 million a season which isn’t an unreasonable number. However, the Brewers are going to want to keep the years down and not go beyond two. If the two parties can agree to a deal with those terms it would be a nice get for Milwaukee.
