Green Bay Packers: 9 trade targets available before the trade deadline

3. Shane Ray, outside linebacker, Denver Broncos

The Broncos are already loaded at outside linebacker with Von Miller and Bradley Chubb. That means Ray, yet another former first round pick, could be on the outside looking in. Also, Denver didn’t pick up his fifth-year option, making him a free agent at the end of this season.

It was just two years ago, in 2016, when Ray racked up eight sacks in a season. Since then, he’s only had two in his last 14 games. That’s a steep drop off and reason enough for Denver to potentially allow him to walk at the end of the year.

However, the Packers would be smart to give Ray another chance. He might be the most physically gifted linebacker on the Packers’ depth chart the day he’d potentially arrive in Green Bay. That should be more than enough freason ro roll the dice on the former first round pick.
