Milwaukee Bucks’ 2018-19 ultimate season preview
Weaknesses
Like every team, the Bucks have a number of weaknesses they must cover up in order to win games. And that’s exactly why they brought in Budenholzer. Here are three areas the Bucks must work on improving:
Centers: Budenholzer is going to have to get creative around his centers all season long. Lopez can knock down threes, but is a complete liability on defense. Henson and Maker are complete liabilities on offense, but are okay on defense. It will be interesting to watch how Budenholzer makes all of that work and if he’ll try some other guys like Antetokounmpo or Ilyasova at the position as well.
Defensive rebounding: Part of this goes hand-in-hand with the center play. The Bucks have been one of the worst defensive rebounding teams for a while and a lot of that might not change this season. However, Budenholzer does want to get out and run and the only way you can do that is by securing the boards.
Defense: Jason Kidd previously tried to employ a very aggressive defensive approach that utilized that Bucks’ length. That worked for one season and failed miserably after that. Budenholzer likes to run a similar system, but it appears he’s turned it down a few levels. Let’s see how this team can adjust to a new defensive scheme.
