Key Reserves

Like every team, the Bucks will rely on their bench to carry them at times. Even though that will likely be infrequent, the reserves will still help them on a nightly basis. This unit might be seen as one of the weaknesses of the Bucks. They aren’t necessarily very deep with players who can create their own shot. Most of the guys only have one specialty skill if that. However, these three or four players will be counted on to anchor the bench.

Ilyasova: Ilyasova was a midnight signing for the Bucks this offseason. He was obviously a target of theirs and when he signed it signaled the end of Jabari Parker in Milwaukee.

Ilyasova returns as a veteran who has been around the block a time or two. He’s underrated defensively and has a very high basketball I.Q. Offensively is where he’s going to earn his keep, however. He can spread the floor and knock down threes. That will go a long way for Milwaukee.

Snell: Snell appears to have lost his spot in the starting rotation to Brogdon. That means he’ll have to bring his defense and outside shooting to the second unit. Snell will excel in shutting down the oppositions best bench scorer and can knock down some outside shots as well.

Henson/Maker: If the preseason is any indicator, Henson has a lead on Maker as the backup center. Whoever it ends up being doesn’t matter. What does matter is that the Bucks get production out of this position.

Lopez is locked in as the starter, but is very limited defensively and will likely get carved up on defense. Henson and Maker are both extremely long and can use their size to offset Lopez’ weakness. However, both have been very bad at various points in their careers and that must change in 2018-19.
